After organizing another round of successful panels last May 2017, this month Florin Curta marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of his intensive involvement in the International Congress for Medieval Studies at Kalamazoo. During this quarter of a century, Professor Curta has annually organized multiple panels sponsored by UF’s Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (many in collaboration with the Research Group on Manuscript Evidence at Princeton University). These panels, focusing especially on the cultural history of eastern and central Europe and drawing on the insights of archaeological research, have brought together scholars from around the world. In this year’s congress, Professor Curta will present “The Late Antique and Early Medieval Economy” (Session 251, The Late and Early Medieval Economy).
Professor Curta plans to continue his organizational efforts in Medieval Studies the year after next at the annual International Medieval Congress in Leeds, England.
